University of Notre Dame Wedding | Basilica of the Sacred Heart | Mahrie & Ryan
Mahrie and Ryan's wedding took place at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, located on Notre Dame Campus. The first time I spoke to Mahrie, I could tell that she and Ryan were going to be a dream couple to photograph. THEN, after hearing where their wedding would take place, (a venue that's long been on my bucket list) I have been counting down the seconds until this sweet couple's day. The beautiful ivy-covered walls, classic collegiate gothic buildings and dramatic basilica didn't disappoint and provided the most beautiful surroundings as we explored campus to document their day. Here are just a few of my favorites!
I couldn't help but be in awe of the grand architecture as I entered the Basilica. The ceiling is decorated with angels in the starry sky, while the walls are decorated with figures of saints. It was truly a dream come true to photograph this sweet couples wedding in a venue of this magnitude.
The Bride and Groom attended rival schools. I loved that this fun couple incorporated a bit of university rivalry on their wedding day. They actually met while Mahrie attended The University of Michigan. The guys had their photos on the fighting Irish field and the ladies had their Michigan gear ready.
We couldn't leave campus without taking a photo in front of the iconic Touchdown Jesus. The bride was a total sport for this one ;)
